Commis

The Commis assists in the preparation and service of all sections in the kitchen in order to meet the food quality, taste, and presentation standards of the outlet. 

Operational Activities

• Follow the instructions and recommendations of immediate supervisor to complete daily tasks.
• Create a harmonious environment amongst all staff.
• Assist the Chef in controlling costs by minimizing spoilage, waste, and proper storage and exercising strict portion control.
• Assist with regular stock takes.
• Arrange storage of food supplies.
• Prepare and cook high-quality food according to menu guidelines and recipes.
• Help to create good communication between all staff within the business.
• Assist with stock rotation cleaning stations.
• Contribute to maintaining kitchen and food safety standards.

Food and Beverage Safety

• Follow correct hygienic food handling practices.
• Follow all ISO standards related to kitchen cleanliness and organization.
• Strictly adhere to cleaning and waste disposal practices.

Knowledge, Skills, and Behaviors

• Demonstrate awareness of manual handling techniques, Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations (COSHH), and chemical safety.
• Bring experience of kitchen equipment and dangerous equipment such as knives to the workplace.
• Work under pressure while maintaining high quality of output.
• Follow correct hygienic food handling practices.
• Use safe work practices and support others to use them.
• Carry out any other duties as advised from time to time.

• High school diploma or a relevant discipline
• A minimum of 1 year of relevant experience in a similar role
• Basic computing skills, including understanding of relevant IT products and software (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and ERP)
