Guardians of
the Horizon
Built in the late 19th century and restored in the early 20th by Sheikh Mohammed bin Jassim Al Thani, Barzan Towers were constructed as watchtowers to protect Doha and monitor the surrounding area. Rising over the village of Umm Salal Mohammed, the towers feature traditional Qatari defensive architecture, including thick walls, crenelations, and internal staircases. Today, the restored site stands as a striking heritage landmark that connects visitors with Qatar’s history of vigilance and resilience.
